VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION EVENT
A roaring success!
GSI's volunteers, staff, and friends of the agency observed National Volunteer Week with a celebration of the 1950's in GSI's Conference Room. Sliders, ice cream sundaes, root beer floats, chips and dip, and bottled coke were enjoyed by all. An appearance by Elvis was a surprise, and everybody sang and danced to his greatest hits. Director of Volunteers Debbie Schutkowski certainly does know how to throw a party!

GSI AWARDED LOCKHEED MARTIN AWARD
GSI is honored to be a recipient of Lockheed Martin's 2013 Community Service Award. The award is based on the volunteer commitment of Traci Brass, a Lockheed employee. GSI appreciates Lockheed's monetary contribution as well as the company's commitment to volunteerism.
GSI'S mission
The mission of Guardianship Services, Inc. (GSI) is to provide guardianship and alternative services to legally and functionally incapacitated individuals who have no family members or friends who are willing, able, or suitable to assist with their needs. The case managers and volunteers make prudent decisions for adults who can no longer formulate or communicate decisions for themselves, or who are unable to made sound financial decisions.Through GSI's Guardianship Program, the case managers and volunteers obtain community services, health treatment, housing, and benefits, thus enabling these clients to function as normally as possible, considering their limitations. The Money Management Program is a less restrictive alternative to guardianship. This program's case managers and volunteers monitor the financial affairs of the clients, at times even serving as Representative Payee, making sure that all limited resources are strictly utilized for their benefit.
The entire staff of GSI takes its responsibilities seriously. The agency's goal is to provide clients with as much autonomy as possible while protecting them from mistreatment or neglect. This is a delicate balancing act.
GSI serves as a last resort. All other alternatives have been explored. The agency's involvement takes a client from a world of loneliness, despair, illness, and exploitation to a world of hope. GSI IN THE COMMUNITY
The Tarrant County community is becoming more aware of GSI and the services offered by the agency. The staff is always available to increase this awareness by giving presentations or providing brochures for events. If you are interested in scheduling a presentation or would like information about GSI, please contact Marnie Stites at 817-921-0499, extension 105, or mstites@guardianshipservices.org.
