Happy 2016!

Somebody to Care

That's what life is all about. Caring for others as you would care for your own family. The only thing is, most of GSI's clients have no family involved in their lives. They have GSI.

Guardianship Program

Typical guardianship clients are vulnerable to abuse or self-neglect and experience impaired judgment. GSI is appointed legal guardian by the Tarrant County Probate Courts when there is no appropriate or willing family member or friend to serve in this capacity.

Please, Let Me Stay Home!

It is our mission to meet the needs of older adults and the disabled with as few limitations as possible. We are here to serve our clients, and to make life as comfortable as possible for them.

Guardianship Services, Inc.

United WayThe mission of Guardianship Services, Inc. (GSI) is to provide guardianship and alternative services to legally and functionally incapacitated individuals who have no family members or friends who are willing, able, or suitable to assist with their needs. The case managers and volunteers make prudent decisions for these adults who can no longer formulate or communicate choices for themselves, or who are unable to make sound financial decisions.

Through GSI’s Guardianship Program, the case managers and volunteers obtain community services, medical treatments, housing, and benefits, thus enabling these clients to function as normally as possible, considering their limitations. The Tarrant County Probate Courts have removed the decision-making rights of these individuals and given GSI the authority to make all decisions on their behalf.

The Money Management Program is a less restrictive alternative to guardianship. This program’s case managers and volunteers monitor the financial affairs of the clients, at times even serving as Representative Payee, making sure that all limited resources are strictly utilized for their benefit. Clients voluntarily participate in this program and share in the decision-making process.

GSI’s goal is to provide clients with as much autonomy as possible while protecting them from mistreatment or neglect. This is a delicate balancing act.

Guardianship Services, Inc. serves as a last resort. All other alternatives have been explored. The agency’s involvement takes a client from a world of loneliness, despair, illness and exploitation, to a world of hope.
