Serving Tarrant County for 20 Years

GSI is supported by generous contributions from organizations and individuals. GSI also receives funding from Tarrant County, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Area Agency on Aging,  United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County, AARP and the Texas Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation.

GSI extends the reach and efforts of its staff through the use of volunteers. Each year, volunteers spend over 8,000 hours performing their guardianship duties. The cost of hiring staff to perform these duties would be $136,880. The cost of recruiting and training each volunteer is $100. including staff time, promotional expenses and training materials.

Because volunteers provide almost 75% of the service hours and because GSI keeps administrative costs to a minimum, the cost of serving one client for one year is only $1,060 or less than $100 per month.

With a paid staff of 18 full time employees and a volunteer staff of over 150, GSI serves over 350 persons each year.

     GSI's 2004-2005 budget - $625,000.

Your contribution pays for:

  • recruiting and training volunteers.

  • preparing cases for volunteers by assessing clients and stabilizing hostile or risky situations.
  • performing screening and background checks on volunteers and staff.
  • ongoing crisis management, support and technical assistance.
