CERTIFICATION

As of September 1, 2007, the Texas Probate Code requires that the following persons be certified in order to provide guardianship services in Texas:

  1. an individual who is a private professional guardian;
  2. an individual who will provide guardianship services to a ward of a private professional guardian or the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services on the guardian’s or department’s behalf; and
  3. n individual, other than a volunteer, who will provide guardianship services to a ward of a guardianship program on the program’s behalf.

All GSI staff members who are involved in the provision of guardianship services have been certified according to the Texas Guardianship Certification Board requirements.

The Alzheimer's Association has organized a new program, REACH, which provides resources for caregivers. Call 1-800-272-3900 to learn more about the program.
